Day 1 Arrival Waingapu / excursion Prai Lang
Upon your arrival at Bandara Waingapu, Sumba (three flights a week from Denpasar), you will be transferred to your hotel in Waingapu, the capital of East Sumba. Depending on your arrival time, visit traditional village of Prai Lang where you can experience the ancient culture of Sumba is an option to spend the day.
Day 2 Waingapu / excursion Rende
From Waingapu take a day trip to the traditional village of Rende where you can find houses with buffalo horns. This is also a great place to learn more about the beautiful ikat weaving that attracts merchants come to Sumba for centuries. You are welcome to see how the local ladies weave in the village. Some megalithic tombstone can also be found around the village.
Day 3 Waingapu - Waikabubak
Take a trip across the island and travel to the capital, Waikabubak, located on the western part of the island. On route, you will find many traditional houses, megalithic tombs and visit colourful Waikabubak market.Day 4 Waikabubak / excursion Wanokaka and Lamboya
Today, one of the most traditional areas of the island is on your list to visit. Wanokaka and Lamboya is where the annual Pasola festival is held. Here, the local “cowboys” ride their horses to participate in competitions. This is one of the most colourful festivals in Indonesia and usually takes place between February and March.
Day 5 Waikabubak - Waikelo via Kodi
On your way to Waikelo, there will be a stop at Kodi. Enjoy the beautiful scenery; a spectacular gulf, a colourful harbour, deserted beaches, traditional villages, traditional villages, three hundred year old tombstones. You will be overnight in the hotel located in the northwest coast of Sumba.
Day 6 Waikelo / excursion Katewel and Waitabula
Explore the area from your hotel. At Katewel you can see how salt is made. Afterwards, you will visit Waitabula port and return to your hotel. Enjoy afternoon by lazing on the beach.
Day 7 Waikelo - Departure
This is the last day in Sumba. You will be transfered to Tambolaka Airport.Safe flight to your next destination!
